I think the title for the forth one should be, "LIve Free and Die Hard"

Meaning that Fox should've called it that because the title they did use doesn't make sense unless it says "live free or die."

Lorenzo is more suitable as a Simpsons character.

As a whole, he’s like a malfunctioning robot, which makes John McClane more superior.

Who around here thinks that the original Die Hard was the best one?

I've only seen the first film, but I think it's the best film out of the whole series.

New York City water tunnel No. 3

Listening to one of my favorite podcasts last week, 99 Percent Invisible , I stumbled across an episode regarding New York City Water Tunnel No. 3 , entitled Sandhogs. It's a short listen about the men and women who have been working on the project over the past few decades.

You can read about it and listen here

The show gives a brief shout out to Die Hard with a Vengeance , which piqued my interest. However, it is primarily about the lives of the individuals working on the tunnels. It is still a solid program and gives a little backstory about the significance of the project and the inherent dangers.

Cheers,

gauspad

Happy 60th John McClane!

The prolific action hero turns 60 this Saturday and we’re gonna celebrate like it’s Christmas Eve, 1988, but before any terrorists arrived.

Since Die Hard first graced the silver screen, the Berlin Wall has fallen, the cold war ended, the internet exploded, OJ Simpson went to jail, the Red Sox won their first World Series since 1918, reality tv became a thing and Apple made a cellphone. Much has changed since McClane first ran shoeless through Nakatomi Plaza in a dirtied grey wife-beater. The films have persevered through the decades and will apparently culminate in an upcoming sequel and perhaps finale to bookend the storied franchise. Over that same timeframe, the Batman franchise went from enormously popular, to punchline, and back to pr…

Add to your Collection

Just noticed that A Good Day to Die Hard on Blu Ray had dropped to $4.99 on Amazon in the states. This would be a good opportunity to pick it up if you haven't yet. If you're reading this wiki though, you probably already have it. Additionally, the first four films are available at $24.99, so you could conceivably own the entire series for around $30 shipped.

It is a good day to by a good day to die hard.

Movies Source Material

In recent years, cinematic franchises and premium TV series have become extremely popular. Lord of the Rings and subsequently The Hobbit series, Twilight, The Hunger Games, coupled with Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead and Dexter are just a few of the recent success stories. Prior to their success on the silver screen or on the small screen, these series had their basis in literature. Many were popular book series, some were relatively unknown novels and the Walking Dead is actually based a graphic novel series.

Knowing that these series and countless others have been born out of literature, it got me wondering where the ideas for some of my favorite movie franchises of the past came from. Case in point: The Die Hard franchise. Surfing acr…

My favorites and least favorites of the Die Hard series

I think Die Hard is the best of all of the Die Hard movies. I think my favorite sequel of all of them has to be Die Hard with a Vengeance, although I liked Live Free or Die Hard. Die Hard 2 has some great moments, but not as good as the others. My least favorite has to be A Good Day to Die Hard, although it's not that bad of a movie.

This is list of my favorite and least characters of the Die Hard series.

  • John McClane (as always)
  • Hans Gruber
  • Lucy McClane
  • Simon Gruber
  • Zeus Carver
  • Al Powell
  • Karl
  • Colonel Stuart
  • Trudeau
  • Leslie Barnes

Die Hard TV series

What if the Die Hard series had its own TV series? It could take place between the events after Die Hard with a Vengeance and preceding Live Free or Die Hard. Or it could be a prequel series. Either way, John McClane is the main character, serves with the NYPD, and he is/was married to Holly. I personally think it should focus on what he did after Die Hard 3 and how he and Holly divorced in the first place (again)

Favorite Die Hard Sequel?

I have always loved Live Free or Die Hard as the best sequel to the original film, although I do like Die Hard with a Vengeance. I think Die Harder is probably the most dull(es) film in the series but I do enjoy watching it. My least favorite movie in the series is A Good Day to Die Hard.

Japanese Promote New Die Hard Movie with a Chocolate Bruce Willis

Of the many things the Japanese are internationally renowned for, their insane attention to detail and crazy packaging of candy might not be at the top of the list. But when it comes to the promotion of A Good Day to Die Hard, which hits theaters on February 14th in both the U.S. and Japan, they have taken the concept to a whole new level by introducing a life-size model of John McClane made entirely out of chocolate.

But why? What's the connection between Die Hard and chocolate? The Japanese don't celebrate Valentine's Day! Actually, they do. The holiday was introduced to the country in 1936 (although it should be noted that a translation error by a chocolate company executive led to the holiday involving Japanese women giving chocolates a…

Max Payne director to direct Die Hard 5

According to Deadline, John Moore, who recently directed the film adaptation of the Max Payne video game is slated to direct Die Hard 5 with reportedly a $100 million budget. Bruce Willis is, of course, to return yet again to the role of John McClane.

Are you excited to see the 56 year old Willis again as the wisecracking hero, or do you think McClane should finally retire from his adventures? The series certainly doesn't seem likely to die anytime soon.
