Die Hard with a Vengeance[]
John McClane is forced by Simon Gruber to go to Harlem wearing a racist sandwich board. Simon was hoping John would be killed since Harlem is a mostly black neighborhood.
The gang who almost kill John
As McClane journeyed with that the racist sign, nearby shopkeeper Zeus Carver came to him and confronts him to leave before the black gang nearby sees him with that racist slogan and kill him. When the black gang sees the sign, McClane tells him that he's a cop and informs him that the man responsible for the recent bombing of Bonwit Teller department store forced him to walk around with the racist sign or he'll bomb another location. The gang beats McClane badly, smashing a beer bottle on his face and slashing Zeus's arm. Zeus sees a Smith & Wesson Model 36 revolver duct taped to McClane's upper back for protection after the gang slices off the sign and he grabs it before they do, pulling the gun on the gang.
Zeus pulls McClane away into the street and he is almost hit by a cab with a Jamacian driver. McClane gets into the car and Zeus tells the driver to run all the red lights. The two speed away from Harlem as Zeus remarks what the gang is doing to his shop after he helped McClane.

- The scene where McClane has to wear the racist sign in Harlem is one of Simon's most difficult tasks and, as a result, is one of the most popular moments in the series.
